Project to Demonstrate Water Efficiency Strategies for Homeowners

LAS VEGAS, NV — Children at five Boys Town Nevada Family Homes in Las Vegas will soon enjoy instant hot water while wasting a lot less of it, thanks to the Water Conservation Coalition (WCC) of Nevada and five new Comfort Systems from Grundfos Pumps Corporation. Besides the benefits to the children, the project will help demonstrate to area homeowners what they, too, can do to make their homes more water efficient, said Jena Antonchuk, WCC executive director. A Comfort System includes a small pump that constantly circulates unused hot water back through existing pipes (a typical home wastes around 11,000 gallons a year waiting for hot water). The WCC is working with Boys Town Nevada, manufacturers and the local Plumbers Union to provide the Comfort Systems plus new “water-smart” toilets, appliances and fixtures.

The project also includes water-friendly landscaping and is expected to save two million gallons of water per year. Grundfos Regional Sales Manager Mike Madsen worked with WCC and donated the pumps on behalf of Grundfos.
