A. O. Smith Goes Green

Tipp City, OH — A. O. Smith Electrical Products Co. has launched its new Green Choice™ brand of motors, which addresses today's environmental concerns. Many of the nation's leading retailers have decided to reduce energy consumption and their carbon footprint by retrofitting their refrigeration equipment with energy-efficient electric motors. A. O. Smith's newly released JuggerNaut™, 3-in-1™ and iMotor™ are the first motors to be released under the Green Choice brand to aid contractors and retailers in their quest to reduce energy consumption in refrigeration applications.

JuggerNaut™: Many retailers are now retrofitting inverters to their existing A/C and refrigeration equipment to save energy. The JuggerNaut allows it to withstand the extreme temperature conditions found in commercial rooftop applications and the rigorous demands inverters place on condenser fan motors.

3-in-1™: The 3-in-1, 3.3-inch-diameter, permanent split capacitor motor is a direct drop-in replacement for walk-in cooler evaporator fan motors. This multihorsepower motor can save the retailer up to 50 percent in energy usage.

iMotor™: iMotor is a new unit-bearing, electronically commutated motor (ECM), designed as a direct drop-in replacement for supermarket case evaporator fans. The iMotor uses less wattage to achieve the same airflow as a shaded pole motor, saving the retailer up to 65 percent in energy usage.

A. O. Smith's Green Choice brand of motors will significantly reduce a retailer's environmental impact by using eco-friendly electric motors while lowering their cost of electricity. A Green Choice motor saves energy by reducing the amount of electricity needed, indirectly reducing the amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the air. Carbon dioxide is thought to contribute to global warming, and coal-fired power plants emit a majority of carbon dioxide.
