Commodity Costs Force Century Refrigeration to Increase Prices

Article Tools

Century Refrigeration, a division of RAE Corporation, is announcing a price increase due to the fluctuating cost of raw material. Prices of commodities, such as copper and aluminum, have steadily increased throughout 2010 and into 2011.

Century Refrigeration has made efforts to reduce costs in other areas with increased automation and updated tooling. With investments in tube bending and a redesigned condensing unit, Century Refrigeration has made strides for greater overall efficiency. All these efforts will defray some of the material cost impact, but a price increase is necessary to continue providing quality equipment.

“Despite these initial price increases, we are committed to keeping our customers’ total cost of ownership to a minimum. Century equipment is designed to reduce installation, maintenance, and utility costs throughout the lifetime of the system,” says Kevin Trowhill, vice president of sales for Century Refrigeration.

The impact of the price increase will vary based upon the raw material content of each piece of equipment, but most price increases are in the range of six to eight percent.
